Demonstrations
The Flatcoat Retriever Club
Thanks to the committee of the Flatcoat Retriever Club for inviting me to demonstrate Heelwork To Music at their Championship show held on March the Thirtieth at the Connexion Leisure Centre Ryton On Dunsmore.
Sunday was another glorious day with the sun shining in a cloudless blue sky. The venue was very crowded with well-behaved Flatcoats mostly black but also some a lovely liver colour. The atmosphere was so friendly and welcoming; it was a real pleasure to be a part of such a large superbly run show.
My first routine was to a Smokie number and I worked my young Rottweiler Ricky. He was so good, really trying his best to please me. Certainly he was a definite crowd pleaser and was well applauded for his efforts - lots of people just happened to have titbits in their pockets that Ricky appreciated. One lady put her hand out to stroke him and Ricky placed his great paw into it, so this lady dashed off to find some titbits for which he was more than happy to give her a paw for.
Next `on' was Murphy my working Beardie (collie look alike) again working to a Smokie number. It is a very humbling experience to be Murphy's partner, he gives everything, and more besides - and he is so very, very fast. Again we finished to loud applause; so much that Murphy didn't really want to go out of the ring.
Last but certainly not least was Guy, my German Shepherd, working to a Meatloaf number. Guy was an absolute star and the crowd loved him. It was obvious that he was thoroughly enjoying his routine and proudly he showed his paces to his audience, richly deserving his applause.
After we had finished the demonstrations it was off to the hospitality area for a cuppa and a chat then outside to celebrate a fortieth birthday and Sally's Crufts win with her puppy. This marvellous day ended with cake, fine wine, chocolates, and the best of company.
What more could one wish for?
Thank you one and all.
Linda
