Dogs have been a major part of my life - ever since I can remember.
To recall all of them would take too long, but one dog who will live
on in my heart forever is Rory - a Rottie who was honoured by being
invited to perform “Heelwork To Music” at Crufts, Discover Dogs
and Channel 4 Big Breakfast demonstrating a waltz routine to the
Blue Danube.
He is the inspiration behind this video. Rory taught me that dogs can
- and do - appreciate music and really enjoy this new sport of
“Heelwork To Music”.
Often Rory would offer and invent moves - and if he didn't like a
particular piece of music - he would walk off the floor.
This video is intended to help people to teach their dogs from the
start and gives plenty of ideas for moves, movement and rhythm
for both dog and handler.

Training Dogs with Linda Topliss
Heelwork to Music has really taken off and has now come under the wing of
the Kennel Club, which has just issued a set of regulations to govern this discipline.
This video is thus very timely.
In the few years since this new discipline was introduced a band of very fine
exponents of the art of working dogs to music has emerged. One of that band,
and a very skilled, popular and successful exponent is the producer of this video.
Together with her lovely Rottie she has performed at Crufts, Discover Dogs and
on Channel 4's Big Breakfast, it was a great pleasure to be asked to watch and to
review this video, her first.
The video is intended to help people to teach their dogs from the start going on
to give ideas for more advanced moves. Linda has certainly succeeded in producing
a very helpful video indeed which I much enjoyed watching. I found viewing and
understanding the video very easy due in no small measure, to the first class
demonstration of what Linda was explaining. The video, which runs for about
1 hour 30 minutes, finishes up with the inclusion of film of some very advanced
and exciting routines.
If I may say so I think that this is an ideal video for those just starting and is certainly
worth buying. Everything is explained in simple language and enhanced by expert
and clear demonstrations. The video could also be of use for those already involved
by providing ideas for more advanced routines.
